  • “My world, it moves so fast today & the past, it seems so far away.” Lauryn Hill-

I was late getting onto campus because I had to stop at a BP on my way to be ill. I was so uneasy about starting school that my nerves basically imploded.

I was wrong about the location of my first class- very wrong. I parked on the other side of campus & got completely lost. I called my mom in panicky tears & she calmly looked up a KSU map & told me where to go. I was 17 minutes late to my first class.

The guy sitting next to me, Chris, offered to drive me back to my car after class, since it was so ungodly far away.  He asked if I wanted a tour- I did, so he spent 20 minutes driving me around campus & pointing things out. He said I “seem smart” & asked if I’d be willing to help him pass the class- I said definitely, and in return he promised to introduce me to some people.

Quizno’s at the Hub is closed for the summer (boo, you whore), so I had a fab breakfast sandwich & a fruit/yogurt/granola cup from Einstein Bros. Bagels. I also tried hazelnut coffee, which needless to say, I will never drink again, no matter how much cream & sugar awaits me.

    ((()))

The sky exploded into a thunderstorm, all Athens-style- it felt like OU all over again minus the hills & the having of an umbrella. Spent a half hour wandering the bookstore- bought a $12 umbrella (rip-off much?) & a damn $40 book that’s not available online because it’s in packet form, those bastard professors.

But it’s a nice campus & I have a nice professor in an interesting class with nice classmates. Everything seems, well… nice. I have one more class at 5:30 tonight & if it goes well, today won’t have been too very awful, despite my rocky start.

And amazing, astonishingly, astoundingly, but most of all thankfully…. In the famous words of America’s classic redhead, Little Orphan Annie, “I think I’m gonna like it here.” And praise God for that, huh?

  • as biased as i am about ou (haha), i'm REALLY glad that you like it.

see you in three weeks!  <3.

  • That is comforting to hear. I think you will like it too, and now you have a first day of school story that you can laugh about later. I love you bunches. Chipotle sometime this week! Oh yeah, and that coffee guy is creepy...

  • *Einstein Bros has the worst coffee! I tried the same thing and I was so mad! Go to the basement of the HUB to Jazzmans! They have awesome coffee/cappaccinos! They have a peanut butter frozen mocha to die for! Like I said, if you need anything let me know, although it looks like Chris will help you out just fine! Glad to hear you just might like KSU after all!*

  • thank you for the words you offered about my ramblings. it was very kind of you. and yes, that is what it's about. in a round-about kind of way, i suppose. and i must say, i do adore the pictures that you add to your entries. too cute.  kimmie.

  • i <3 ur posts! they're so...pictoral! haha. and yes, rainbow boys is such a cute book! haha. later.

    lyl<3<3

  • I guess I missed that you were changing schools or something...  I'm glad you like it.  At the risk of sounding stupid, is that Kansas or Kentucky State?  Also, in reference to the above comment by lisa6143, Jazzman's is pretty damn good.  That's how I survived my finals this year (we have one at ASU).  Also, it's good to meet someone like that the very first day.  If I hadn't brought my two best friends with me, I think I'd have started school pretty lonely.  Sounds like you're doing great.   Luv ya!

  • she's the best.  i used to listen to that cd every night as i went to sleep.

  • Glad to hear you got a tour guide on your first day-- I honestly don't know where a lot of buildings are on campus, still.  That's what people who live on campus are for.  Haha. Oh, and Einstein's is way better than Quizno's anyway.  If you see a cashier named Matt with a grey mustache/goatee, tell him Heather and Erin said hi.

  • haha well thanks.
    yr hair's all flippy
    uh
    and cool <3

  • i suppose it's really more about my brother's current standings and how it hurts to watch him go through a situation that i was in just a few years ago. and i would have to agree, that yes, it is evil and absolutely dreadful. but i am starting to realize how much time really does heal. [sorry for being so cliche] and how we must seize every moment of sunshine and even the clouds for what they are worth. and i too, am sorry to hear of your loss but hope that you are doing well.    kimmie.

  • everything is sick at the hub. even jazzman and pete's arena downstairs. make the walk to rosie's. are you staying on campus in the fall?

  • we had the best/worst thunderstorm here too. the weather couldn't decide if it wanted to be good or bad. first it was gray, then sunny, then it rained, then hailed, then sunny again, then more rain, and it was pretty windy all day too. i didn't care though, i was inside watching it, lucky me.

  • well one of my best guy friends and i sort of had a "falling out"...and well it's not good.

  • katy, you inspire all...i can't wait to get the hell outta dodge just to let you know..i dont know why i'm letting you know, but well...you know.

anyways, love ya. be there or be square. july 24th, the party to end all parties.
