  • “And I am damned, but can I be saved?” –Gatsby’s American Dream-

There was a piece on tonight’s news about the fastest-growing name for baby girls: Nevaeh. In case you’re slow, that’s “Heaven” spelled backward. I’m opposed to this name on principle. If you want to name your kid Heaven, don’t beat around the bush – flippin’ name her Heaven. I think that’s a trashy name, but it’s not nearly as awful as its diffident counterpart.

I saw V for Vendetta with Kevin this afternoon, since it was too dreary for the Indians’ game. I liked the movie a lot but didn’t understand it entirely. I’ll probably have to see it again… & let’s be honest; the Guy Fawkes mask is terrifying.

I never noticed how depressing John Melencamp’s “Jack & Diane” really is: “Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone.” It’s actually, like, an anthem for the elderly, even if it’s about kids.

Summer confuses my sense of time. I feel like it’s a Monday; I forget that I work tomorrow morning, not tomorrow night. I’m all confounded & out of sorts… but it’s nice to be relaxing a bit. Wednesday & Thursday are my favorite- they’re work-free!

  • that mask is pretty terrifying. i havent seen V for Vendetta yet, although i want to real bad.

"cabaret" went splendidly, thanks for your congrats.

  • In response to your last post, i feel your pain. There must be something about women having short hair and men having long hair. I`ve been hit on from behind while standing in line by an old man at wal-mart. Who was, shall we say, suprised to discover that indeed i am not a dame....?

    Whats up with that.

  • Thanks so much for the comment.

I'm so damn insecure and I just didn't prepare myself for this as much as I should've emotionally.  But I know I'll figure out where I fit in all this over time, I'm just so impatient and want guarantees, ya know?  I need to trust the guy more for starters (I had a dream last night that he was hanging out with some girl and when I asked if we were together he said "I don't know"...  I couldn't sleep for a half hour or so- so dumb).  Anyway, thanks again for the encouragement.  See you soon I'm sure.

  • Hey, sorry I didn't respond to your text message yesterday afternoon... work was absolutely hectic, and by the time I got home from running errands with my dad, I totally forgot about it. My bad.

I'm fine. I have good moments and bad moments just like anyone else... but they've turned more good and less stressed recently... thank goodness...

Don't feel bad about not seeing Nate yet... my dad hasn't either. I'll try to fix that soon... maybe steal him for an evening and bring him over for a bit so you and Joyce can see him...

  • Hey Katy, it's Melissa W....just wanted to say it's me and not some weirdo person out there randomly subscribing to your blog. I didn't realize when I cancelled my xanga that it got rid of my subscriptions too! Gah! Sooo irritated about that! Anyways, I hope you're enjoying your summer!
